Cake of the month: Apple Crumble @pad28

the weather has been kind of strange lately. for a moment it can be pouring rain, at a glance, it stops and scorching hot. It is pretty unusual for now that It is seldom to rain as it is almost the end of the year.
being a university student, I found it hard to maintain my energy. During my break time, I really need something to eat to boost my mood and energy. Ice cream and desserts have been occupying my "dietary" level for this few weeks and this one has become one of my favorite.

Pad28 apple crumble pie. Completed with vanilla ice cream, pecans peanuts, and caramel tuile.

Apple pie is one of my fav dessert, especially when it is filled with ice cream and tuiles. I love it when the crumbles are sweet and yet crunchy. Pad28's apple pie is quite satisfying and that's why I chose it as our cake of the month.

For the next post, I am going to review about the food trip that I have in Bali. In particular, I feel so tired nowadays, and sorry for the lack of post for this month.
I am going to recover about it in our next review :)

So, stay tune with foodcouture ;)

Cake of the month: Marches Bread Pudding

BREAD PUDIDNG. Hai, I am back with my blogging routine and it's almost the end of September, it is time for CAKE OF THE MONTH. I always feel excited every time I have the chance to update about my cake of the month. Sorry for abandoning this blog for quite a while, because I need to adapt with my new schedule and I feel pretty hectic nowadays. *sigh*

Do you still remember when we were young there were more little choices of cakes, breads, or other desserts than today's? Indeed, I feel that there are lot of varieties in sweet pastries that make people are killing their curiousity just to try them. Let's name some, such as red velvet, rainbow cakes, apple pie, and bread puddings. All of them are 'booming' from time to time and becomes everyone's favorite.

My favorite one is bread pudding ( I like other cake as well ) and you can now grab it in most bakery store such as Bread Talk, Bread Life, etc. Recently I have tried to make it on my own because I am craving so much for it and I still have my ingredients to make it. The result is, VOILA, it's delicious, spongy, creamy, and has the right taste of sweetness. My family is craving for more, and I promise to make another one for them around this week :). Trust me, it is easy and not time consuming.

So the last bread pudding that I tried was from Marche's. I always love going to Marche because it provides varieties of food, like the Italian food market, that offers spaghetti, classic pizza, and rostti.
Well, for the desserts of course I chose BREAD PUDDING.

Loving the cinnamon essence and brown sugar sprinkles on top and make this want to have more and more bites everytime I eat this.

cake of the month

CREPES. Hey foodies, enjoying your long holidays pretty much? Well, I didn't enjoy my last weekend, I have to stumble upon my bed as I was badly sick. I couldn't spend my day with friends nor enjoying meals. Instead, I visited a doctor for being examined and luckily my doctor said that nothing was wrong, just a harmless virus has entered my immune system.

Hmm, I guess I am now kind of healed up and have the strength to post something, so this it, our cake of the month that usually appears at the end of every month. You can check the labels for any cake of the month later on below for the previous post.

Alright, this month's cake of the month falls to the HummingBird's vanilla crepes. yay ~ This is the first desert/cake/bread you-name-it for the cake of the month that comes from outside jakarta! Hummingbird is located in Bandung and I went there for my weekend getaway like 2 months ago.

hmm. very generous toppings and fillings. lurveeeeee it <3

Crepes is made up from the composition of flour, milk, and sugar. It sounds simples, yes it is, but when it comes to the practical situation, you really have to concern about small details. You must have a hot round pan before you pour the crepe mix and you shouldn't cook it for too long as it will get burnt quickly. But making crepes are actually easy if you know the steps of doing it the right way. Hence, we have to know the ratio for the flour and milk and sugar, as we do not want to have a broken piece of crepe.

Normally, crepes are filled with ice cream (any flavors) and then sprinkle it with almonds, choco chunks, biscuits, and also chocolate and caramel syrup. You can combine crepes with sausage, meats, or any savory salty food, not only just the sweet fellows.

I love this crepe from Hummingbird as the crepe has the sweet taste but not too dominant as the toppings and fillings are also very tasteful. In the end, I am pretty satisfied because I am also a fan of crepes itself, so ... yeah I guess this is worth to try :)

P.S: the pictures are all taken originally from my camera. if any courtesy of the pictures that I take from different sources, I will state it clearly. so if people who ask whether my pictures are not an original, the answer is 'authenticity of the pictures are guaranteed'. thanks :D

cake of the month

CRUMBLED PIE. It is exactly the end of the month already, and it is time for the cake-of-the-month section! geez, time really flies fast and It is almost coming to the end of the year already. Well, a year has passed ever since this blog was created, and huge massive thanks to your supports.

This month, I chose apple crumble pie from Tin Pan Alley as our cake of the month. I have always loved apple crumble pie for several reasons:
1. I love apples! I almost eat it everyday as for my dietary menus
2. Ice cream is my best friend. In every apple crumble pie, it is always a pleasure to have a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of it.
3. The crumble itself is the best part. Always tastes sweet and crunchy and reminds me of my favorite snack, the nougats bar!

Today's cake of the month goes to one of my fav restaurant in Jakarta, Kitchennete, and how I love its specialty in making crepes. Crepes have become everyone's favorite, from children to adults, and all of them love the texture of it. I love Kitchenete's crepes is because it has thin and soft texture, and makes it easier for me to eat it, and also, the combination with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream are perfect.
This portion can be shared up to 2 or 3 persons max.

Cake of the month

Escaping from the busiest street in Jakarta would have not been an easy thing to do nowadays. With the scorching sun and the hot weather, it makes all our works have been very hectic and yet moods might sometimes change.
I am not the type of people who would love the lovely warm weather. Yet, I do love the warm weather in spring, as it is refreshing with a slight breeze of wind. Winter is the best season that I have ever been through, cold blowing wind throughout your face make you feel like tugging inside the blanket for the whole day. Oops, I mean, slacking around. hahaha.

Alright, May is coming to the end, and as my usual routine, I have to choose the selective cake-of-the-month. And in the end, I have chosen the right one for this month.

this is my Cake-of-the-month that I have selected. it is the complimentary from Negev restaurant for every lady that comes to the resto in the weekend, and this red velvet is very EL MAGNIFICO. Cake of the month

CAKE OF THE MONTH. do you still remember  the post about union red velvet cake HERE? now, it is time for the cake of the month, since April is fading away. hahaha.
this cake is from Tin Pan Alley, that has the taste of lemon meringue. hmm. to be honest, I don't really like the taste cause it is quite sour. however, I select it as the cake of the month is because of its cute serving, and has the meringue covered on top. I still recommend Tin Pan Alley's red velvet, not because am a fan of red velvet, but due to its nice taste and the sweet cheese cream.

if you wanna know more about the menus that I have reviewed earlier on, you can just simply CLICK << this. Furthermore, keep on reading my blog, to know the NEXT cake of the month :D

cake of the month

Red velvet cake from Union

I have chosen red velvet cake as the cake of the month because of its huge demand in every cake factory or restaurants. Its popularity has increased as many people are wanting this cake as the desert.
I have tried some velvets from some restaurants and they have never failed me at all, esp this velvet from Union :D
The secret to every red velvet cake is the icing itself. the combination of cheese cream, sugar, and fresh cream must have the exact ratio to pour out the essence that completes the cake.

If the cream cheese is too sweet or too tasteless, it actually depends on the taster himself, because every person has different level of taste that he likes.

By the way, this is a quick post before heading up to Church. Yes, it's White Thursday today, and I just want to share a quick post for my readers.

Adios !
